What occupants or business
belong to the earth element? It would include any earth
related industry (e.g. mining, property construction), civil
engineering and real estate.
How do your control strong fire? Use a large amount of the
controlling element of water.
How do you weaken strong fire? Use earth the element that
fire produces. The ration is in the process of producing
earth, fire is weakened.
Who invented the BaGua or Eight Trigram? The Guas and the
Early Heaven arrangement are attributed to legendary emperor
Fu Xi who lives about 6000 years ago. His inspiration
apparent came from seeing the arrangement on the back of a
dragon horse that emerge from the Yellow River.
How many arrangements are there of the Eight Trigram?
Technical 8 factorial arrangements! In practice only two
arrangements matters. They are the Early Heaven (Xian Tian)
and Later Heaven (Hou Tian) arrangements.
How is Yin and Yang represented in the Gua? Yin is
represented by a broken line while Yang is represented by a
solid line.
What are the two States? Out of Wu Ji (nothingness) comes
two primary energies called Yin and Yang. These two energies
are also known as Two States.
What are the Four Appearances? The Two States further
interact with Yin and yang energies again to create four
energies known as Greater Yang, Lesser Yin, Lesser Yang and
Greater Yin. These four states are also known as the Four
Appearances.
What is the Wu Ji? The ancient Chinese believe that in the
beginning there is nothingness or a void. This is called Wu
Ji. Then out of this nothingness comes two primary energies
called Yin and Yang which continue to interact with each
other to create a myriad of things.
What is the Tai Ji? From Wu Ji (nothingness or void) come
two primary energies which are opposites called Yin and
Yang. These primary interacting energies is called the Tai
Ji and is commonly represented by the familiar twin fish
(white fish with black eye and black fish with white eye)
like pictograph or the Yin Yang symbol.
What are the names of the 8 or Ba Gua? They are Qian meaning
heaven, Dui meaning lake, Li meaning fire, Zhen meaning
thunder, Xun meaning wind, Kan meaning water, Gen meaning
mountain and Kun meaning earth.
What are the characteristics of the Qian Gua? The Qian Gua
symbolizes Heaven. It also symbolizes the creative that is
ever moving. It is also the father and is associated with
the direction NW. Its element is metal and is associated
with the color white (or gold and silver) and the season of
late autumn and early winter.
What are the characteristics of the Dui Gua? The Dui Gua
symbolizes the Lake or Marsh. It also symbolizes the joy and
delight. It is also the youngest daughter and is associated
with the direction W. Its element is metal and is associated
with the color white (or gold and silver) and the season of
autumn.
What are the characteristics of the Li Gua? The Li Gua
symbolizes Fire or Clinging. It also symbolizes beauty and
dryness. It is also the middle daughter and is associated
with the direction S. Its element is fire and is associated
with the color red and season of summer.
What are the
characteristics of the Zhen Gua? The Zhen Gua symbolizes
Thunder. It also symbolizes arousing energy. It is also the
eldest son and is associated with the direction E. Its
element is wood and is associated with the color green and
the season of spring.
What are the characteristics of the Xun Gua? The Xun Gua
symbolizes Wind. It also symbolizes penetrating energy. It
is also the eldest daughter and is associated with the
direction SE. Its element is wood and is associated with the
color green and the season of late spring and early summer.
What are the characteristics of the Kan Gua? The Kan Gua
symbolizes Water. It also symbolizes falling and danger. It
is also the middle son and is associated with the direction
N. Its element is water and is associated with the color
blue/black and the season of winter.
What are the characteristics of the Gen Gua? The Gen Gua
symbolizes Mountain. It also symbolizes stillness or
stopping. It is also the youngest son and is associated with
the direction NE. Its element is earth and is associated
with the color yellow and the season of late winter and
early spring.
What are the characteristics of the Kun Gua? The Kun Gua
symbolizes the Earth. It also symbolizes receptive or
yielding. It is also the mother and is associated with the
direction SW. Its element is earth and is associated with
the color yellow and the season of late summer and early
autumn.
What is the HeTu or (Yellow) River Map? Emperor Fu Xi saw a
pattern on the back of a dragon house that emerged from the
Yellow River. The pattern inspired the Early Heaven
arrangement and is today known as the He Tu or River Map.
What is the Lou Shu or Lou River Writing? Emperor Yu saw the
pattern on the back of a tortoise that emerged from the Lou
River. The pattern inspired the Later Heaven arrangement and
is today known as the Lou Shu or Lou Writing. Some scholars
disagree arguing that the Later Heaven arrangement is
derived from the Early Heaven arrangement.
